 | The Nickel Boys | Elwood is a smart kid, brought up by his Grandma, taught the message of Dr Martin Luther King, and aiming for college. But fate sends him unfairly to reform school, the Nickel Academy, where he is abused, mistreated and has to grow up fast. Boys are viciously beaten, sometimes to death, for rule-breaking, but Elwood, assisted by his friend and fellow inmate Turner, realises his only hope is to attempt an escape, and together he and Turner make a run for it.
