Blood Meridian or The Evening Redness in the West A young violent man (the kid) is drawn to a join a gang of marauding ex-US Army soldiers in their mission to kill and pillage wherever they roam. Paid for any scalps they can collect, both Mexican and Indian, the gang are lead by the mysterious and enigmatic Holden who leads them, nurtures them but ultimately destroys them.

Excellent Western. Very bleak, violent and full of difficult journeys across sun-baked deserts, the kid is a horrible sort of anti-hero until you realise he is nowhere near as evil as Holden.
