	The Axeman's Carnival	Narrated by a magpie who is adopted by a rural Kiwi farmer's wife. The farm is struggling, the farmer is grumpy and reluctant to adopt new methods. He is also prone to physical abuse. His only outlet is the Axeman's Carnival, where he can demonstrate his wood-chopping skills.
