The Sisters Brothers
The Sisters brothers, Eli and Charlie, are a couple of cold-hearted killers sent on a mission by The Commodore to San Fransisco during the years of the gold rush. Their target, accused of vague crimes against The Commodore, is Hermann Kermit Warm, but during their bloody and violent journey and the search for Warm they each realise that there might be more to life than death.
Great, really good story beautifully related by Eli Sisters. Simple, but deep? Maybe too simple for the Booker prize, for which it is shortlisted.
