The Slap
A 3 year old boy, Hugo, misbehaves at a barbeque, threatens another child with violence, only to be slapped by Harry, the father of the second boy. Hugo's parents are furious and prosecute Harry for assault. The story unfolds, related by various family members and friends in turn.
This was annoying for the first half, as the story felt obscure, and the characters interchangeable (maybe I just couldn't keep track of them!) Then it started to come together a bit more, with some more likeable and believable characters (Connie and Richie - the school kids who baby-sat Hugo). And by the end I quite enjoyed it. A loan from Vicky.
