The Balloonist
It is 1897 and Major Crispin together with a journalist friend who has accompanied him on previous adventures, and a new, slightly mysterious friend Theodore, sets off to explore the North Pole in a hydrogen balloon. During the scientific expedition we learn through repeated flashbacks much more of the history and love-life of the Major.
Brilliant, thoroughly enjoyed this. Written in a Jules Verne 19th Century exploring the world kind of style, but with a big dash of humour and a great love story. Excellent twist and a fantastic ending too.
