Some stories about Chinese people living in America and (in general) the older generation struggling to keep their Chinese identity and the younger generation are struggling to be Americans. The main story 'Hunger' is about an immigrant Chinese music teacher's efforts to live out his dreams in his daughters, who each in turn learn to play the violin, all related by the sidelined wife.
Very nice. Some good bits about how difficult it is to go from first to third position (on the violin), and how second position seems even harder! Very similar theme to all the stories I thought.
