Sarah Chestnut is born into a poor southern family in a future America where fossil fuels are illegal, climate change has flooded large areas of coastal land and storms regularly wreak havoc. Sarah grows up as a refugee from an American civil war, meets an influential and persuasive man in the camp that becomes her home and takes up arms herself, sacrificing what little she has in her cause.

Quite good, lots of politics, lots of action.
