Venomous Lumpsucker
Set in a not too distant future, scientist Karin is in search of the last few remaining venomous lumpsuckers, the most intelligent fish ever discovered. Also in pursuit, for very different reasons is Mark Halyard, a mining exec trying to cover up his own fraudulent behaviour with regard to his companies extinction credits. As climate change continues to batter the world, humanity seems to blithely send thousands of species to oblivion every year - will the madness ever stop?
Great, very good story, fantastic plot, characters and some pointed satire. Really enjoyed this.

The Teleportation Accident
Set, initially at least, in 1930's Germany, Egon Loeser is a self-centred theatre set designer with a high opinion of himself who is slightly obsessed with a 17th century Italian set designer who lost his life trying to create a teleportation effect in a theatre.
Quite good really, if a little odd. Long-listed for the Booker. I found Venomous Lumpsucker much more interesting. Also, recently saw a reference to lumpsuckers in the Guardian! And I thought he'd made them up.
