Story of the fire-bombing of Dresden in WW2, told via experiences of Billy, a hapless US soldier who gets taken prisoner by the Germans and held in Dresden. Billy also gets transported to an alien planet by aliens and gets put in a zoo where other aliens come and watch him.

OK, interesting, and I can see how it might have been pretty groundbreaking at the time, but I didn't find myself particularly grabbed by any of it.
