Amir grows up a privileged child in Afghanistan, playing happily with his faithful friend/servant Hassan. They both get bullied by the horrible Assef, who grows up into a powerful Taliban bully. Russia invades, the Taliban rise to power and Amir escapes to the US but continues to regret his cowardice towards Hassan, and returns to Afghanistan to make amends...

Great, really cool story and beautifully written!

Story of two women growing up in Afghanistan during the 70's, 80's and 90's. Lots of sorrow and physical abuse, interspersed with a little bit of joy and hope.

Nice story, great characters, a bit sad.
