Scout Finch is grown up and returns to her home town from New York, but it is all very different.

Hmmmmmm. Didn't even finish it, although I was in a period of not getting books finished at the time. It didn't grab me at all though, the characters all seemed very different and the whole the thing the opposite of evocative which is what I remember from Mockingbird. Oh well, I'd kept my expectations low on purpose. Makes me even more nervous about re-reading Mockingbird ever!

Atticus, Scout and Jem take on prejudice and hypocrisy in 1935 Maycomb, Alabama.

Fabulous book, I just love it. I read it as a teenager originally of course (maybe aged 16?), then re-read multiple times during the next few years, but then I was nervous to re-read it more recently in case it didn't live up to my memories. But Laila was reading it for school so I thought it was time to check it out again. Brilliant! Such wonderful characters, amazing story, fabulous history and politics.
