![]() | Small World | Morris Zapp and Philip Swallow are a couple of literary academics swanning around the world attending conferences. Persse McGarigle is a young Irish poet/academic who meets the gorgeous Angelica at a conference in Rummidge and chases her around the conference trail in search of love. | Great! Loads of weird characters, all getting off with each other, and trying to have a good time. Very funny! |

![]() | The British Museum is Falling Down | Adam Appleby is a struggling post graduate trying to complete his thesis while supporting his wife and three children. They are Catholics and use the not so reliable rhythm method. | Quite funny, but seemed a bit obvious/forced in some places, I think you can tell it's one of his early ones! But made me a laugh a couple of times, firstly when reeling of his list of conceptions, and then when he goes to buy condoms but bumps into Father outside the shop! Also has a good bit where he refers to Kingsley Anus - I wonder when Lucky Jim was first published? Hmmm, 1954 - I just checked. Lucky Jim is definitely funnier! |
