The story of the racing boat crew from Washington State who went to Hitler's Olympics in 1936 and rowed to victory. But so much more! He covers the life story of one of the crew in great detail, growing up in poverty during the worst years of the Great Depression, with heaps of social and political history, all beautifully interwoven with a story of supreme athletic effort and plenty of technical rowing info.

Great stuff. Best book I have read for ages.
