Furlong is a coal and firewood merchant in 1980's New Ross, Ireland. He becomes suspicious that there might be abuse of young women going on at the nunnery, and takes some steps to right a wrong.

Lovely story, kindness and sadness. Shortlisted for the Booker in 2022, and I think they are making a movie now.
