The story of the printing of the Gutenberg Bible in the mid-1450s. Narrated by Peter, the adopted son of Fust, Gutenberg's financial backer, who becomes Gutenberg's apprentice and later leads the project to completion (after 3-5 years, no-one is quite sure), in spite of political/church issues and resistance to the new technology from all sides.

Told as a novel, but based on historical truth, although impossible to say how accurate it might be.
