 | The Beach | Richard, his mind filled with Vietnam war stories, is given a map by a dead man which leads him to a mysterious beach on a remote Thai island. There he finds a community of travellers living together in not quite harmony, dodging the guards who guard the illegal dope fields. Dissent, death and destruction follow. | Not bad actually, although last time I read it (on the plane to Ecuador I think) I wasn't very impressed. More interesting now that I am here, and have a better idea of what a Thai beach might look like! |
