The LifeboatA ship sinks, and the story takes place inside one of the lifeboats as it drifts away. Hunger, thirst, and eating raw fish all follow - just as usual in these situations, but drawing straws to see who should jump overboard to lighten the overloaded boat, and the psychological pressure brought to bear on different occupants of the boat to sacrifice themselves lead to a trial once the survivors are rescued.
