The Red QueenFirst half is an account, by the Red Queen herself, of her life and times, including her betrothal at age 8, and marriage at 10 to Prince Sado, who turns out to be mad, and kills people. His Dad kills him in the end by telling him to climb into a box. Then second half is academic woman travelling to conference in Korea who reads about Red Queen on the plane but then loses her luggage, gets rescued, meets and seduces famous Dutchman, he dies, she adopts the Chinese baby he was planning to adopt...

The second half was much more fun, read a bit like a David Lodge, only with more hidden meanings everywhere. First half was a bit dull.
