The Perks of Being a WallflowerIt is the early 90's and Charlie is nervous about starting high school. He writes a series of letters to an unknown person "Dear Friend..." and these letters form the entirety of the book. He is an introverted but unusually observant boy with a love of reading and music and he comes from a close family with an older brother attempting to break into pro football and an older sister hoping to graduate near the top of her class. Perhaps against the odds he falls in with a good group of (older) kids who support him and two of them in particular, Sam and Patrick, who help him survive his first year at school.

Great book, really enjoyed it! Must watch the film next, with Laila and Molly! Is Charlie autistic? Whether he is or not - amazing twist at the end of the story!
