The Year of the LocustKane is a CIA spy, trained in all kinds of sneakiness and weapons. He is sent to Afghanistan to extract an informer with vital information concerning a terrorist plot - a big one. But while his informant is brutally killed and his mission is compromised, he gets a glimpse of the chief terrorist - the man with the locust tattoo. This gives Kane a slight advantage and he goes in pursuit, but unfortunately he ends up on a time-travelling submarine, and subsequently has to fight space-dust zombies to save the whole of humanity. This also has a knock-on effect to his personal relationships.

I was hoping for great things after I am Pilgrim and it started off pretty well to be fair. Then we got to the zombies and the time-travel and I had to wonder if Mr Hayes had already written the accompanying screenplay. Great page-turner though.
