![]() | Brideshead Revisited | The story of Charles Ryder, who meets Sebastian Flyte, who, eventually, takes him to visit Brideshead, and so begins his involvement with the family and their Catholicism (and drunkeness in Sebastian's case). | Excellent. Great scene near the end where old Lord Marchmain returns to Brideshead to die, and sends the Catholic priest, come to administer Last Rites, packing. But at death he repents! |

![]() | Men at Arms | The first book in the Sword of Honour trilogy describing the exploits of Captain Guy Crouchback who signs up to the Halberdier Regiment at the start of WW2. As war breaks out the regiment spends most of its time getting on and off trains and boats without going anywhere, but eventually they end up in Dakar where the Brigadier is determined to see some action. | Very good, funny and serious. |
