 | Golden Hill | A chap gets off a boat in 18th Century New York and heads straight to the nearest branch of Barclays(?) where he produces a paper claiming that he should be paid £1,000. Is he a genuine wealthy client no-one would want to offend? Or merely some fraudster? Only time and the unfolding of a convoluted plot will tell... | Jolly good, lots of evocative detail on life in 18th century New York, and some mostly excellent characters (although the romance strand seemed a bit overly weird). Apparently there is a good plot twist at the end but I have forgotten it. No, it's coming back, something to do with slaves I think. |
