James inherits a farm from his father (and grandfather) and has to try and make a living while adapting to new practices but making sure he respects and nurtures his legacy. Autobiographical account of how farming in the Lake District (and the UK generally) has changed over the years.

Great read, beautifully written, lots of food for thought. Very illuminating.
