 | Keep the Aspidistra Flying | Poet Gordon Comstock wants to refute money, but this makes him depressed. When he does earn some money he blows it all on a fancy dinner with his rich (but socialist) friend and his girlfriend and gets very drunk. Ends up back in his well paid advertising copywriting job, married and renting a nice little flat when his girl gets pregnant | Quite good - although a shame that the outcome seems to be that socialism is only OK if you have enough money to be comfortable. Although, of course, if it was proper socialism I suppose everyone would have enough...? |
