The Secret of Life
A detailed history of the race to uncover the secret of the structure of the DNA molecule.
Really good. Great focus on Rosalind Franklin who gets all the credit she deserves in this account, as opposed to in James Watson's own history in The Double Helix. Loads of background on all the scientists and some in-depth analysis of how their personalities, prejudices, methods and backgrounds affected their progress, and influenced the rivalries, politics and lack of collaboration. Always interesting and very exciting as the discovery itself gets closer and closer...
