A Kestrel for a Knave
Billy Caspar struggles at school, always in trouble, and has a tough home life too with an impoverished and irresponsible mum, absent dad, and nasty elder step-brother. But he finds a diversion and inspiration in training up his kestrel, but the struggle to manage normal life too just gives him more problems.
Great, really enjoyable. Brilliant scenes at the school, with the visit to the headmaster and the football game being particularly good.
