Heart of Darkness
Marlow relates his story of adventure in The Congo, when he is employed by a trading company, as a river-steamer captain to sail up river to find out what has happened to Kurtz, a man with a strange reputation for enlightening philosophy and extraordinary success in obtaining ivory.
Quite good, but Kurtz always remains frustratingly enigmatic, even after we meet him. Maybe that is the point though. Apocalypse Now was more exciting. This was a present from Larissa, and required fetching from the mysterious Kazakh post-office across town... This edition comes with beans and tea.
